Everyone Cleans the Bathroom; You Should, Too, Least Favorite Chore
So let’s say it’s Monday. It is a brand new week, and your calendar is full! Like me, you have a to-do list a mile long. As you sit with your morning coffee looking over the list, one thing jumps off the page staring at you!! Clean the bathroom! Ugggh!!!! Again?? I just cleaned it for what seems like last night! I am not talking about wiping things down. That needs to be done every day. I am talking CLEAN the bathroom.
The Actual Process
- Mirror over the sink
- Sink
- Vanity and Shelf around the toilet
- Toilet
- Tub
- Floor Sweep
- Floor Mop
- Change all the towels
- Wash curtains (when needed)
- Wash rugs (when needed)
Then & Now
Most people do not know that I grew up in a house where everything had to be perfect. We followed this process every single day, including the weekends! It is nice to live in a clean house, but when it is required that either clean or serious repercussions will happen, it takes the joy out of it.
I am now married to my greatest love, who attended military school and is a veteran, and he is used to a clean and orderly house! Which makes me happy. We are used to cleaning everything, so that works out for us. Even though we all enjoy our clean environment, it is OK to make a mess. It is OK to leave your crochet project on the coffee table for a long time.
Least Favorite Chore My Reasons
I don’t particularly like cleaning the bathroom for physical reasons. I have back problems, and bending down to clean the tub, and the toilet is hard. I used to have sliding doors, which was worse! Even with the curtains, you still need to take them down to wash them when needed!
I know this is silly, but I can not stand the smell of bathroom cleaner. It just burns my nose, and it is unpleasant to me. I think it is the over-chemical smells that happen in there while you are cleaning. You have the Windex, the Toliet bowl cleaner, and whatever you spay n the floor.

So there with you on bathroom cleaning. Ugh! I went with Yard Work because that’s the one I have the most trouble with, but cleaning the bathroom is probably the chore I hate most.
